Styling Your Network Map

Styling Your Network Map

The PARTNER CPRM Analyzer includes multiple options for styling your network maps to give them a custom, personalized look and feel. Here are instructions on how to access and leverage our analyzer style settings.

Access Styling Settings for Network Maps: Step-by-Step Instructions

First, log in to your account and open your ecosystem, then follow these steps:

1. Open the analzyer at the capture or ecosystem level depending on what data and network maps you want to style.

2. Make sure you have the "Network Map" module open at the top-right of the screen.

3. Click the "Paintbrush" icon on the left side of the analyzer screen to open the styling settings.

There are three sets of styling settings you can edit your map appearance:
  1. Nodes: Representing members
  2. Labels: Identifying the name of each member
  3. Lines: Representing relationships between members
Here are instructions for each of them.

How to Style: Node/Label/Line Custom Colors

To customize the color of your nodes, labels, or lines, click the color swatch below "Node/Label/Line Color" and use one of these options to choose a custom color:
  1. Use the color wall to pick a specific shade visually.
  2. Use the eyedropper tool to choose a color from another web page (like your org brand colors).
  3. Use the RGB or Hexcode options to enter a specific color or tone.
Info
Note: Custom node colors will only display when you are not using the "Color By" settings in the Settings tab to show member data. To customize these colors, click the legend listing color on the right side of the screen and repeat the process.

How to Style: Node/Label Size and Line Thickness

To customize the size of your nodes or labels, or the thickness of your lines, use the slider below "Node Size" to increase or decrease their size.
Info
Note: This only will affect your node size if you are not using the Node "Size By" settings to show data.

How to Style: Node Gravity (Node Spacing)

To customize your node gravity, use the slider below "Node Gravity" and click the "re-run" button at the top-right side of the analyzer screen.

This will change how closely together nodes appear and is helpful when you have a lot of nodes and need to make the map more compact. When in doubt, keep this slider at the mid-level.

How to Style: Preset Node and Relationship Color Palettes

There are 17+ preset color palettes to instantly color your nodes and edges with varying attributes with an appealing set of colors that fits your needs. There are also 7 pre-set gradient color palettes which generate as many color shades as required for the specific number of response options or attribute selections you have visualized. For example, if there are 9 different org types displayed using node colors, the "Blue" gradient color palette will generate nine different shades of blue, from light blue to dark blue, and assign them to your nodes. Here's how to use it:

1. Use your Node and Relationship settings to color your nodes and/or relationships by color.

2. In the Legend on the right, click the small 'color palette' icon next to the name of the attribute or relational question response your colors represent.

3. In the dropdown menu that opens, click and select one of the preset color palettes or gradient color palettes and click Save. If you want to do the same with your nodes/relationships, repeat the process again.

4. The network map should automatically re-color your network map with your selection. If it does not, click the "Rerun Map" button at the top of the screen.
