This article shares how to add a custom member attribute in your member library. These allow you to collect additional info about the members of your ecosystem, like previous meetings and interactions, notes about your partnership, and single-choice and multiple-choice lists to keep track of various details related to your collaboration.
How to Create a New Attribute: Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Login to PARTNER CPRM and open your Ecosystem.
2. On the lefthand side of the screen, click "Attributes" within the ecosystem navigation menu to open your attribute library.
3. Within the attribute library that opens, click "Add" at the top of the page.
4. In the dropdown menu that opens, select the type of attribute you want to create. Your options include:
- Date: Record a date of an event or interaction with this member
- Time: Record a time related to this member
- Date & Time: Record a date and time related to this member
- Mutli-select: Select multiple attributes from a list of options
- Single-select: Select a single attribute from a list of options
- Text: Add a note or tag related to this member
- GIS: Pull data from geographic boundaries like House or Senate districts
5. A new attribute of the type you selected will appear below. Fill in a name for the new attribute.
6. Choose which attribute group to add the new attribute to.
NOTE: You must create attribute groups before you create an attribute to add it to that group. To create a group, click "Manage Groups" and then return to create your new attribute.
7. Add a description so other users know what this attribute is and what it is used for.
8. For single-select and multi-select questions, add response options on the right, one per line. Then click "Add."
9. Click "Save" on the right end of the row with your new attribute.
You can now return to your member library, edit a member, and see the new attribute available to assign.
You can add unlimited attributes in your ecosystem. However adding more attributes makes it more difficult to keep your data updated and can reduce the quality of your results.
We recommend limiting your use of attributes to 10 or less to make the most of your social network analysis. Learn more in our brief on member attributes.
