This article shares how to add a custom GIS attribute for your ecosystem members. GIS Map attributes will populate data based on the primary address of the member and can not be edited by users. The data is pulled from the selected GIS map base layer.
For example, you can use the Senate or House District Boundaries to create a GIS attribute for "House District." It will automatically display the House District that each ecosystem member is located within, as long as you enter in an address for them.
How to Create a GIS Attribute in Your Attribute Library: Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Login to PARTNER CPRM and open your Ecosystem.
2. On the lefthand side of the screen, click "Attributes" within the ecosystem navigation menu to open your ecosystem attribute library.
3. Within your library, click "Add" at the top of the page, and select "GIS Attribute" in the drop-down menu.
4. Give the GIS attribute a name.
5. Choose an attribute group to assign the new attribute to.
6. Select a base layer to pull data from. In this case, we would choose "House District."
7. Write a description of the attribute for future reference.
8. Click "Save" on the right end of the row with your new attribute.
You can now return to your member library, edit a member, and see the new attribute available to assign.
You can add unlimited GIS attributes in your ecosystem. However adding more attributes makes it more difficult to keep your data updated and can reduce the quality of your results. We recommend limiting your use of attributes to 10 or less to make the most of your social network analysis. Learn more in our brief on member attributes.
